Alvin Francis "Creepy Karpis" Karpowicz (August 10, 1907 – August 26, 1979), born Alvin Karpowicz, nicknamed "Creepy" for his sinister smile, was a noted American criminal who was part of the Karpis-Barker gang along with Arthur "Doc" Barker in the 1930s.
The Karpis-Barker gang became one of the most formidable criminal gangs of the 1930s. They did not hesitate to kill anyone who got in their way, even innocent bystanders. They robbed a number of banks, hijacked mail deliveries, and soon turned to the lucrative field of kidnapping.

Arthur R. “Doc” Barker (June 4, 1899 – January 13, 1939) the son of George and Kate “Ma” Barker, was a noted criminal and a part of the Karpis-Barker gang along with his brother Fred Barker and Alvin “Creepy Karpis” Karpowicz.
The Karpis-Barker gang was among the most accomplished – and deadliest – group of bandits of the 1930’s. Their crime spree spanned the Mid and Southwest and left a trail of bodies unequaled by any of the other gangs of that time. On a danger scale of 1-10, the Karpis-Barker gang would have to be ranked at 9.
